I’ve scrambled 300+ eggs in the last 3 years.
Here are 7 rare traits I see in every high performing scrambled eggs:
1. Eggs
This one’s a non-negotiable.
If you don’t:
Have eggs
Scramble them
Your scrambled eggs will not perform at the highest level.
Period.
2. Grit, Determination, Resourcefulness and Chutzpah, and Bravery and Courage, and Sheer Willpower. And the Determination to be Determined. And $1,000,000 in a Savings Account
If your eggs don’t have these, you’re lost.
Put down your spatula and go home. It’s over.
If you are already home, go somewhere else.
Go to a public toilet and cry.
3. Optimism
Scrambling eggs is a rollercoaster.
It's not for the faint-hearted.
Being optimistic is critical.
I need eggs who say yes to everything.
Who have a can-scramble attitude.
4. Not Being An Asshole
Sounds simple, but it’s critical.
Asshole eggs don’t scramble together as a team.
Asshole eggs stay lumpy, and not in a good way.
I don’t hire asshole eggs.
5. Constant Learning
In a fast-moving world, I need eggs who learn and adapt.
I need eggs who:
Ask for feedback
Develop their skills
Admit their mistakes
Eggs who don't blame others when they stick to the pan.
Who beg my forgiveness for sticking.
Who admit it had nothing to do with me not stirring enough.
6. Growth Mindset
This is foundational.
I need eggs who are willing to go the extra mile.
Eggs who embrace the challenge of being scrambled as a growth opportunity.
Who are willing to break out of the egg mindset.
Who are willing to think outside of the egg box.
Who are willing to become something else:
Scrambled eggs.
7. Enjoy Responsibility
I need my eggs to take on responsibility.
I need them to be the first to volunteer to be scrambled.
High performing eggs don’t wait around to be scrambled.
I need eggs who whisk themselves.
Who serve themselves.
Who jump onto my fork and levitate into my mouth.
Who optimize their passage through my digestive system.
🚩 Red flags (signs of B-player eggs):
They are running around and squawking
Means they are chickens
You cannot make high performing scrambled eggs with chickens
You need to wait for the chickens to produce eggs
Do not attempt to scramble chickens
